Frank Sinatra – my Music A to Z

frank_sinatra_2

Who doesn’t like Frank Sinatra? He was the original teen idol. Although I wasn’t around then, Frank has ties to my two favorites Elvis Presley and U2. Frank said this about Elvis in the 1950s, “His kind of music is deplorable, a rancid smelling aphrodisiac…It fosters almost totally negative and destructive reactions in young people.” Then in 1960 Sinatra welcomed Elvis home from the army on a tv show special, even performing a duet together. Frank and Elvis also dated some of the same women like Juliet Prowse. Frank Sinatra and U2 re-recorded a I’ve Got You Under My Skin together, U2 wrote, recorded and performed Two Shots of Happy, One Shot of Sad, and Bono introduced Frank on the Grammy’s for his Lifetime Achievement Award. Besides ties to Elvis and U2, I do like Frank Sinatra on his own merit. I like big band music and that sound. My favorites of Sinatra are Fly Me to the Moon, That’s Life, Summer Wind – sorry, I like Elvis’ My Way better than Frank’s.

This blog post is part of my A to Z April Challenge about ‘My Music’ – music I love from A to Z. Thanks for stopping by. I am also blogging the A to Z Challenge on my other blog On the Road with U2 about ‘My U2′ – what I love about U2 from A to Z.

  1. I just knew you were going to pick Frank today! Someone else chose the Fresh Prince which was also a good choice but having grown up listening to my parents sing along to Frank Sinatra and Dean …hey wait a minute no Dean on D day Forgivable but Disappointing. 😉
