Happy Days, Heathers, Howard Jones – the 1980s from A to Z

It’s, like, totally bitchin’ you came back to find out what my favorite H’s are from the 1980s. Like the most righteous tv show, movie and music from the 80s.
Happy Days
My favorite television show when I was a kid and still my favorite television show now is Happy Days. Again, the 1950s theme prevails. I started watching Happy Days as soon as I started watching television. I would act out scenes alone in my basement at age three or four. I have the entire 
series on dvd and rewatch it every year – at least once. I have the Happy Days lunch box, the board game, Fonzie and Richie full figure dolls, Richie glass and the Happy Days trading cards. The whole reason I stopped in Milwaukee, where Happy Days is set, on U2’s 360 tour was to see the Bronze Fonz. My love of Elvis came from Happy Days, along with watching Elvis movies with my mom on Sundays. I first heard “Heartbreak Hotel,” my favorite Elvis song, on Happy Days when Fonzie performed it at Arnold’s. Everyone talks about Fonzie, but I think Ron Howard was absolutely hysterical as Richie! The term ‘jump the shark,’ indicating when a television show has run its course and should end, came from Happy Days when Fonzie jumped the shark in California.
Heathers
I liked Heathers as a teen because it was really out there and Christian Slater was so damn attractive with that amazing voice, but it is not a movie I repeatedly watch now like I do most of the other movies discussed on this a to z challenge. But as a teen in the 80s, I loved it.
Howard Jones
I loved Whitney Houston (well her first album) and still love Heart, but not more than I love Howard Jones. I am finally going to see Howard Jones in concert in June, along with OMD actually. HoJo, as I like to call him, had a lot of great songs in the 80s including “Things Can Only Get Better,” Like to Get to Know You Well,” “New Song,” “What is Love?,” “Pearl in the Shell,” “Everlasting Love,” but there is nothing better than “No One is to Blame.” It is not only my favorite Howard Jones songs, but one of my favorite songs from the 80s. It just gets to me.

I love “No One Is To Blame” too. But I watched “Heathers” because I was crushing on Winona Ryder. I remember liking it but haven’t rewatched it either.

Oh. My. Word! My FAVORITE show when I was kid was Happy Days, too! Man, reading this brings back a ton of memories! I couldn’t get enough of that show for many, many years.
Although not my favorite song (its definitely in my all-time top 25), my favorite 80s song that starts with H is Hysteria by Def Leppard.

Yeah Happy Days is STILL my favorite show. No One is To Blame isn’t my favorite song (definitely one of my top 5 of the 80s) but my fave Howard jones song. Thanks for reading and commenting!

I’ve still never seen Heathers, somehow I have managed to miss it. I used to love Howard Jones :). Far too many shows have jumped the shark IMHO :). Hmm 80s H things – I remember really enjoying Highway to Heaven at the time and Haircut 100.

Wow. Happy Days was a great show and one I used to watch all the time. It was one of my favorites during that era along with Hart To Hart and Hill Street Blues(especially the opening credits music). I’ve never seen Heathers but I loved Harlem Nights, & Honey I Shrunk The Kids. Both I still watch till today and laugh as if I’m seeing them for the first time. There were no bands or musicians I liked in the 80’s starting with the letter H. But I did enjoy the music from Heart in the 80’s especially Alone. Thanks again Deena for the memories. I had never seen Heathers but recently saw the musical at a local theater. I loved it. Of course I had to then see the movie. Musical was true to the movie but somehow better because of the songs

I enjoyed Happy Days although I haven’t seen it in years. It would definitely be a good one to re-watch or stream. I loved Ron Howard in it too.

Never saw Heathers, but I do love the name. Happy Days, as you probably know by now, is a favourite of mine as well, especially being set in Milwaukee. It was always fun to watch the antics and catch all the Milwaukee / Wisconsin references. One of my favourite episodes was the one they were in the demolition derby. I’ve always loved demo derbies and I still watch them from time to time in neighbouring county of Jefferson.
Howard Jones has great music and you have selected a great song. One day I was angry at my brother so in Weird Al style, I parodied this song and rewrote it, renaming it, “Edward Is To Blame”.

you never saw Heathers? how did you miss it? christian slater? it was very popular in the late 80s and shannen doherty. that’s hysterical about edward is to blame. i also loved the 3 part happy days demolition derby but i like it for pinky when i was little. i loved her and fonzie together. but since then i’ve learned that she was a horrible person and the cast couldn’t stand her.
