Quantum Leap, Quicksilver and Question of Lust – the 1980s from A to Z

Blogging from A to Z April Challenge

Like, OH MY GOD! It’s totally awesome you came back to find out what my favorite Q’s are from the 1980s. Like the most rad tv show, movie and music from the 80s.

Quantum Leap
Incorporating my love for history and time travel, Quantum Leap was a cool show that even did an episode on my number one love Elvis. Luckily the show debuted in March of 1989, so it qualifies as one of my favorite shows of the 1980s – and the only one I watched starting with Q.

Quicksilver
I didn’t see any movies starting with Q in the 1980s – not that there were that many. But I found Quicksilver starring Kevin Bacon, Jami Gertz and Lawrence Fishburne, so it is probably not a bad movie.

Question of Lust by Depeche Mode
I am not a huge fan of Queen (sorry folks), and I like Quarterflash’s one song “Harden My Heart,” so I could not pick a band or singer starting with Q as my favorite music from the 1980s. I picked a song starting with Q, “Question of Lust,” by one of my favorite bands from the 80s, Depeche Mode, or as we affectionately dubbed them Depressed Mode. Ironically, “Questions of Lust” is not sung by lead singer Dave Gahan. Instead it is sung by Martin Gore, who also sang “Blasphemous Rumours” and my favorite Depeche Mode song “Somebody.” I think I might prefer Martin’s songs to Dave’s “People are People,” “Strangelove” and “Master and Servant.” I have seen Depeche Mode twice in concert (in the 1990s) as they were best friend’s favorite band.

Thank you for joining me on my trip back to the totally tubular 1980s as I complete my Blogging from A to Z Challenge. What was your favorite tv show, movie and band or song from the 80s starting with the letter Q? Please come back tomorrow to read about my faves from the 80s that start with the letter R. And be sure to check out the 1970s from A to Z here.

  1. Only familiar with Quantum Leap though I didn’t watch it regularly. Q was hard. I didn’t write a news post because I couldn’t think of one.

We both covered Quantum Leap. That was such a good show!
I never saw Quicksilver but it has to be good with Kevin Bacon in it!! Love him.
Good song you chose to showcase…

  3. I loved Quantum Leap. Not heard of Quicksilver before, might be worth checking out. Ah Depeche Mode – who can forget them playing Master and Servant on the Wide Awake Club for all the children because no one thought about what the song was about? 😉 I would have had to go with Queen, simply because of the It’s A Kind of Magic album which is attached to my favourite film, Highlander.

  4. Oh wow. Q is definitely hard which mean I can’t share any favorites but Quantum Leap was a pretty decent show. I watched it occasionally. I’ve never seen Quicksilver but it looks interesting especially the cast. Wow. Nice song. Never heard it before and I like Depeche Mode’s music. Great picks Deena. Can’t wait to read the R’s. Blessings throughout your journey.

  6. I’ve seen Depeche Mode in concert at Summerfest but they were never one of my favourite bands. Though I do like their older albums. Quantum Leap is one of my favourite sci.fi. shows. It’s one of the few shows I’ve actually written fan fiction for. Even though Sam hated the 80’s, my story takes place in 1987.
