Summer Plans
After being disappointed by the postponement of the U2 tour and my entire summer plans being cancelled, I made a new plan. I still went on my roadtrip, but it was only 9 days instead of 2 months. So what to do with the rest of my summer?
For the remainder of June, I’m going home to Maryland to visit with my parents and friends and attend my 20th high school reunion. While in Maryland, I am also going to the casino in Delaware for a couple of days, visit the Elvis newseum in DC and attend a Baltimore Orioles baseball game.
For July, I’ll be in Memphis. Hopefully going to see local bands, attending movies at the Orpheam and catching up with friends. And I’m seeing Joan Jett at the Horseshoe Casino in Tunica on July 30th – 5th row! I missed Joan when she played Musicfest a few years ago because there was a tornado warning.
Lots going on in August, here in Memphis and in Chicago. The first weekend in August is Lollapalooza in Chicago. I used to go to Lollapalooza back in the early 90s when it traveled from city to city. This year Soundgarden is one of the headliners, so I am VERY excited to see Chris Cornell! I’m going up a day early, so I can see the play ‘Million Dollar Quartet’ at the Apollo Theatre. The following week is Elvis week here in Memphis. I am attending the Shake Rattle and Bowl party, Conversations on Elvis, the Elvis on Tour screening, the gospel singing with the Stamps and the candlelight vigil. The follwing Saturday, August 21st, I am going to Hi-Tone to see Lucero and Amy Lavere at the Rock for Love 4 benefit. And the Saturday after that I am seeing Billy Idol at Harrah’s casino in Tunica.
So my summer has shaped up to be pretty great, even without the u2 tour.
