Elvis Cirque du Soleil Las Vegas

Today was my last day in Vegas. I was very sad thus afternoon – maybe because Cindy left, maybe because I’ve been averaging 4 hours a sleep a night, maybe because I couldn’t get last night’s NKOTB concert out of my head, maybe because it was my last day in Vegas.

We started the day with a breakfast buffet at Ballys – biscuits and unsweetened iced tea for me. Then we went to Planet Hollywood to play the slots before Cindy left at noon. Then I went to Bills casino and played Happy Days for about an hour then went back to Ballys where I won again at Hot Shot Progressive. Then I got a sandwich and watched a movie in the room before going to Aria.

Viva Elvis Cirque du Soleil is playing at Aria casino just up the strip. I got there a few hours early, so I visited the Viva Elvis store and hit the jackpot. They had stuff from Sun Studio that isn’t even in Memphis. I bought a Sun hoodie with Elvis on the back, a Vegas Elvis tee shirt, Viva Elvis keychain, Viva Elvis program, Viva Elvis bag, and a pink Viva Elvis hanger. After shopping, I had an hour and a half before the doors opened, so I gambled – and did not win. I decided to sit and people watch outside the theatre doors. I ended up buying an $11. Ginger ale because I wanted the Viva Elvis cup – it was about 32oz.

Viva Elvis Cirque du Soleil was great! It was like a broadway show about Elvis’ life with some acrobatics mixed in. Pictures from Elvis’ life were on the video screen as well as Elvis’ various performances. I was so involved in watching Elvis that I had to remind myself to watch the dancers. The singers and the band were fantastic, especially that blues guitar. I thoroughly enjoyed Viva Elvis!

The walk from Aria to the strip was a little confusing, but I met a nice man who was equally confused, so we walked back together. He was staying at the casino next go Ballys. Even though I had lost at the slots today, I decided I couldn’t just go back to my room at 9:30 on my last night in Vegas. So I decided to try my luck one more time. My new favorite game Hot Shot Progressive did not let me down. I won the progressive jackpot twice – I’m still down overall though.

Sad to leave Vegas in the morning, but glad to see my dogs.
