Walkin along the Mississippi and the Full Moon Club 8.26.10
Glad I’m back into seeing something new each day. Wednesday I had lunch at Fuel Cafe, and Thursday I went to the Full Moon Club. But I started my Thursday walking along the Mississippi with Elvis and Cilla because it was a rare cool August morning.

Thursday night I went to the Full Moon Club on Madison Avenue, above Zinnie’s and coincidently across the street from Fuel Cafe, to see Marcie Bullock, Kris Acklen and JP and the Jackrollers. The Full Moon is like someone’s basement, but upstairs.
There weren’t a lot of people there, but I don’t like crowds anyway. The first 2 people I spoke with didn’t like U2. I’ve never met anyone who didn’t like U2. I mean I know they are out there, but I have just never met any of them.
Anyway, I was there to see my friend Marcie Bullock perform. And did she ever! My girl can sing! A lot of ‘my man did me wrong’ songs though, but in a very soulful, powerful, Joplin-esque way.

Kris Acklen played next. Just him, his guitar and his Bono shades. He was very good – a ballad singer mostly.

The headliners of the night, and every Thursday at the Full Moon, were JP and the Jackrollers who are Jeff Pruitt on guitar and vocals, Steve Eleogram on bass and Demario Foster on drums. They are a jam band of rock and funk. They covered a bit of Folsom Prison in one of their songs, and the song after that reminded me of U2 – especially the guitar. Demario is a fantastic drummer, but I think my favorite part is when Jeff plays to the wall – barefoot.

It was a great night! I thoroughly enjoyed all three performances, met some cool people and had a lot of fun.
