i love my life
Thankful Thursday
It might sound cliche or trite, but I love my life – I truly do. A lot of people say they love their life because what are they supposed to say “I hate my life,” but they don’t truly mean it. They don’t want to admit their life isn’t everything they thought it would be, but they are stuck because they don’t have the courage to change it to make it what they really want it to be. I, on the other hand, truly mean it when I say I love my life. It is everything I thought it would be and more. I am truly happy. I was at dinner with some girlfriends and one asked, “Is anyone deliriously happy?” in a tone indicating she thought no one was actually happy. The others shook their heads no while I raised my hand and proudly said, “I am!” They questioned me, and I said “I am deliriously happy. I love my life. I have everything I want, but I want different things than most people.”
To borrow a quote from Lucille Ball, which I have made my motto, “It is better to regret something you’ve done than something you haven’t.” I have no regrets because I have done everything I have wanted to do. There is nothing in my life that I wish I had done, but didn’t. I wanted to move to Memphis, so I did. I wanted to rescue a dog, so I did (actually two of them). I wanted to write a book, so I did. I wanted to follow U2 on tour, so I did. I wanted to go to the Super Bowl, so I did. I wanted a career in Social Media, so I got one. I want to travel to Grizzlies and Broncos games, so I do. I want to go travel to concerts, so I do. I want the freedom to do whatever I want when I want, and I have it. Granted I have been very fortunate to come from an environment that has made these things possible for me, but it isn’t all luck and good fortune. I also try very hard to get and do the things I want. People always say they’re jealous of my life or they wish they had my life, and I say to them it’s all about choices. You can choose to do whatever you want to do with your life. (Not what is expected of you, but what you really want to do!) Your choices force you to make some things a priority while sacrificing other things. On this Thursday, I am Thankful I love my life!
