Al Kapone and Memphis Music – my Music A to Z

A favorite music of mine that begins with ‘A’ is Al Kapone and Memphis Music. I had to be creative to fit all of my musical favorites into an A to Z format. Al Kapone is a great rapper from Memphis, and I love Memphis Music. Al Kapone is probably best known nationally for his music in the movie Hustle and Flow. Other favorite musicians of mine from Memphis, who actually still live and play in Memphis, are Lucero (an alt-country rock band) and Nancy Apple (a rockabilly/country singer/songwriter who I actually became friends with). Although Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash are not from Memphis, they did get their start at Sun Studio in Memphis and each called Memphis home for a time. My number one reason for loving Memphis Music, and why I discovered Memphis Music in the first place, is Elvis Presley – more about him on my ‘E’ entry in a few days. I celebrate my love for Memphis Music every year at the Beale Street Music Festival on the first weekend of May.

This blog post is part of my A to Z April Challenge about ‘My Music’ – music I love from A to Z. Thanks for stopping by. I am also blogging the A to Z Challenge on my other blog On the Road with U2 about ‘My U2′ – what I love about U2 from A to Z.
