Grizzlies defeat Wizards 110-104 in DC
I didn’t think it was going to happen. Since October, I had my tickets to the only game my Memphis Grizzlies were going to play in DC. Then another snowstorm hit. We had about 7 inches of snow with some ice mixed in, but I made it to the Verizon Center in DC. We arrived at the Green Turtle at the Verizon Center just after 5pm – tip off was at 7. The bar was full of Grizzlies fans. We had our pregame beers and wings and was in our seats when the doors opened at 6. Same seats as last year. Front row behind Grizzlies bench, well to the left near the tunnel where the Grizzlies come out. Z-Bo came out first and shot around and took pictures with fans. There were lots of Grizzlies fans in attendance. When my favorite player Tony Allen came out, he pointed to each group of us Grizz fans. Toward the end of the fourth quarter when we were up by 17, we started chanting “Let’s Go Grizzlies” really loud. Someone from the Grizzlies front office came over and sat down with us and thanked us for coming out and making it feel like a home game. Very cool! Unfortunately, we lost that huge lead and were only up by 2 with seconds left but luckily we held on and won 110-104. Tayshaun Prince had a season-high 21 points, Mike Conley had 20 points and 7 assists, and Zach Randolph had his 36th double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Unfortunately, my new favorite player James Johnson did not play due to a sprained ankle. My favorite part of the game was when my favorite player Tony Allen dunked and then the entire bench imitated his signature pose.
