Grizzlies Clinch 4th Consecutive Playoff Berth with Win over Suns

In their fourth consecutive win, the Memphis Grizzlies clinch their fourth consecutive playoff berth while eliminating the Phoenix Suns. Monday night the Grizzlies defeated the Suns in Phoenix 97-91. Grizzlies Zach Randolph scored a season-high 32 points, 13 in the first quarter. The last time Z-Bo scored 32 points was also against the Suns two years ago. Mike Miller also scored a season-high 21 points, 15 of those points were three-pointers. Marc Gasol added 18 points.

This has been an amazing 180 for the Memphis Grizzlies, who were 13-16 and in 12th place at end of December. Since then, the Grizzlies have one of best records in the NBA at 36-16. One of the keys to this transformation was Marc Gasol. Memphis was only 10-13 when Gasol was out with a sprained knee from November through January. With Gasol in the lineup, the Grizzlies are 39-19.

The Grizzlies final regular season game is against the Mavericks in Memphis on Wednesday night. If they win, the Grizzlies will be the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference and will face the No. 2 seed in the first round of the playoffs, which will most likely be the OKC Thunder. If Memphis wins, it will be the Grizzlies’ 50th win and the third 50-win season in franchise history.
