It’s a Living, Indiana Jones, INXS – the 1980s from A to Z

Blogging from A to Z April Challenge

Like, OH MY GOD! It’s totally awesome you came back to find out what my favorite I’s are from the 1980s. Like the most rad tv show, movie and music from the 80s.

It’s a Living
Do you even remember It’s a Living? I do, I used to love this show. It was about waitresses who worked in a posh restaurant at the top of the Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles. It’s a Living starred Ann Jillian and later Crystal Bernard, who I loved in Wings.

Indiana Jones
I was more into the original Raiders of the Lost Ark but that begins with R, so for this 80s I movie it is the sequels Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. It was a very popular trilogy in the 80s. Harrison Ford was on fire first as Han Solo in the Star Wars trilogy then as Indiana Jones in the Raiders of the Lost Ark trilogy.

“Never Tear Us Apart” was my junior year Homecoming song and my favorite INXS song. INXS’ Kick album was pretty influential during my high school years with such great songs as “New Sensation,” “Devil Inside,” “Need You Tonight,” “Mystify” and “Mediate.”

Thank you for joining me on my trip back to the totally tubular 1980s as I complete my Blogging from A to Z Challenge. What was your favorite tv show, movie and band or song from the 80s starting with the letter I? Please come back tomorrow to read about my faves from the 80s that start with the letter J. And be sure to check out the 1970s from A to Z here.

  1. Indie – I love Indie, he’s awesome 🙂 I remember seeing The Last Cursade and being totally blown away :). I was a wee bit fond of Billy Idol in the day. I also remember enjoying It Ain’t Half Hot Mum, which ended in 1981 – it is problematic for several reasons these days, but at a child I never realised that, it just made me laugh.

  2. I do remember that show. I was an Ann Jillian fan at the time but don’t remember why. Pink reminds me of her

  3. Once again, you bring up stuff I haven’t thought of in YEARS! I totally loved It’s a Living, but I can’t remember much about it, besides the costumes and the set. Your nostalgia is just too much fun.

  4. Hey Deena! Great blog. It’s A Living. Wow. I remember that show. I didn’t watch it all the time but when I did I enjoyed it as well. I don’t have a favorite “I” 80’s show. At least none I can think of right now, but the Indiana Jones trilogy was great in the 80’s. The Last Crusade was definitely my favorite!! Hilararious. I liked Marcus!! LOL He was funny. Now INXS was awesome!!! Need You Tonight is definitely my favorite song from them!!! Once again your blog is a blast from the past with tons of memories. Thanks and keep up the great work my friend. Blessings.

  5. I love “Never Tear Us Apart” it’s such a good song that I often like a lot of the cover versions as well but nothing beats the original.
Great post and good luck with the A-Z Challenge 🙂

Love your theme! So many great memories from the 80s. I had to comment on your “I” post because of INXS. It was my first real concert (not counting the ones I went to with my parents!) and I bought the large door poster–seriously, covered my door. We were supposed to get backstage passes, but my uncle who took us didn’t get the message that he was supposed to go to will call to get them. AHHHH. So close.

  7. I’m still glad to have met someone else who remembers and enjoys It’s a Living. I just loved Ann Jillian.
Isn’t it amazing how Harrison Ford starred in two successful franchises? Of course he was also in one of my favourite films of all time, American Graffiti.
As for INXS. I loved them in the 80’s. I do remember seeing them in concert at the height of their career.

  8. INXS was great in convert. If I recall right, that was one of the few concerts we hired a limo for. Outside of Summerfest, this may have been my first ever concert.
