“You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me” – Elvis from A to Z
There are many great Elvis songs beginning with ‘Y’ for me to choose from for my Blogging A to Z Challenge including “You Gave Me a Mountain,” “Young and Beautiful” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone.” But I chose “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me” as my favorite Elvis ‘Y’ topic, but “You Gave Me a Mountain” is a VERY close second.
I just love those first two beats (“When I said” boom boom “I needed you”) of “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me” and then the song just takes off. The flip side of “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me” is “Patch It Up,” which is another favorite of mine I would have written about for my ‘P’ Elvis topic had I not written about Priscilla. “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me” was originally made famous by Dusty Springfield in 1966 – and the year before that it was an Italian song. Elvis recorded it in 1970 and released it on That’s the Way It Is.
What is your favorite movie, song, book, topic about Elvis that begins with ‘Y’? Please comment below. If you missed any of my Elvis ‘A’ to ‘X’ topics, please click here. Remember to check back Monday to see what ‘Z’ topic I’ve chosen for Elvis.
I love Elvis but must say I prefer Dustys version of this song, but no one else can sing “In the ghetto” like The King 😊

I think he sings it a little too fast but he sure is fun to watch.

You don’t have to say you love me is a great song! I don’t believe I have ever heard the original version by Dusty Springfield. Probably would be my second choice as a favorite letter Y song. I love You’ll Never Walk Alone. I can remember my grandparents playing his gospel music and falling in love with that song back in the 90s.
