“Return to Sender” from Girls! Girls! Girls! – Elvis from A to Z
For my Elvis ‘R’ topic, I could have chosen the song “Release Me” for the A to Z Blogging Challenge as I do really love that song. But instead, I chose “Return to Sender” not for the song itself but for Elvis’ performance of it in one of my top ten favorite Elvis movies Girls! Girls! Girls! There is just something about that performance! Elvis’ jet black hair perfectly greased back and his swiveling hips and the all black outfit and his cheek bones and that smile! Never has Elvis looked better in a movie performance of a song, in my opinion.
Girls! Girls! Girls! was released in 1962 and in it Elvis plays a fisherman and a singer, of course. His passion is boating, so he makes money as a singer to buy a boat. Not only is Elvis beautiful in his performance of “Return to Sender,” he looks amazing this entire movie. Yes Elvis always looks good, but he looks particularly beautiful in Girls! Girls! Girls! because of his fisherman’s cap, popped collar and rolling up sleeves. Sigh! And the way he walks – that Elvis strut. Double sigh! Laurel Goodwin (who I didn’t meet but got to see talk on the panel during Elvis Week last year) and Stella Stevens costar. This is Elvis’ second movie filmed in Hawaii.

Yes!! The Elvis strut!! 😁 My favorite letter R song is definitely “Release Me” followed by “Reconsider baby”, “Reach out to Jesus” and “Run on”. Girls girls girls is one of the movies I actually own. It’s been several years since I’ve watched it so guess what I’ll be doing this weekend!
